Guanacaste, Costa Rica

Costa Rica…imagine a place of all things simple, natural and peaceful – authentic living is the daily lifestyle in this corner of the world. It’s no wonder we fell in love with Pura Vida living within the first wee minutes of our journey. This was my 3rd visit to the country and this time was even more magical with my husband by my side as we celebrated our honeymoon! We booked a 12 day trip mixed with adventure and full relaxation… and it was the truest days with many nights sitting under the stars talking about our future dreams and goals as husband-and-wife. [Tips at the bottom of the post. This is Part 1 of our travels. View Part 2 here].

Guanacaste Tips

Preparations:
Liberia airport – Highly recommend flying into to Libera rather than San Jose – it was recently renovated and short drive to the beach and the rainforest.
Car rental – Make sure to book 4WD vehicle to be safe – most of the roads are in excellent condition, but if you decide to travel out of the Guanacaste region some of the roads aren’t paved.
Data Plan – Our T-mobile texting & data abroad plan allowed us to Google navigate and communicate with our family.

To do:
Vandara Hot Springs –  Zip line & swim in the natural hot springs
Tamarindo – Surfy beach town with shops & restaurants
Playa Flamingo – Gorgeous beach

Eat and Drink:
Lola’s – Our favorite beach bar with delicious seafood, drinks, and welcoming vibes
Gregorio’s Bar y Restaurante – Local spot with authentic breakfast
POPS – Delicious creamery with multiple locates throughout the region – one conveniently located right across from Libera airport.

Stay:
JW Mariott Guanacaste – We stayed here for the first 5 days before heading to La Fortuna for the second part of our travels [View Part 2 here].
